What types of consultants are eligible for the Consultant Connection program?

We welcome consultants with expertise in a variety of areas, including accounting, human resources, fundraising, and strategic planning. While technology-focused consultants are also eligible, please note that managed service providers (MSPs), outsourced IT support firms, and digital marketing consultants are not eligible to participate. This policy helps prevent overlap with existing TechSoup service offerings.

What is the qualification criteria?

To qualify, consultants must meet the following criteria:

  • Consultants must be registered business entities. 
  • Consultants must have significant experience in their advertised area of expertise.
  • Consultants must have verified experience working with nonprofits. This could be in the form of an online review, case study, or reference.
  • Consultants need to provide three references upon applying. These references do not necessarily need to come from a nonprofit.
  • Consultants must accept our Terms of Use and pay the listing fee of $395 per year.

Do you check references?

Yes; we ask for three references, which we will contact to confirm that you worked together and that they were satisfied with your work. Your references do not necessarily need to be nonprofits.

What happens after I submit my application?

After you submit your application, our team will review your information and check your references. If we have any questions, or have an update on your application, we will contact you via email.

Why do some consultants have a “preferred” badge on their listing?

Preferred providers also serve as our implementation partners for TechSoup Services offers.  Preferred providers undergo a rigorous vetting process and are typically TechSoup’s most long standing consulting partners.

How can my organization become a preferred provider?

We are not currently looking for new partners for our TechSoup Services offers.  However, that may change in the future and the best way to stay updated about new consulting opportunities through TechSoup is to stay on our Consultant Connection list! 

How do nonprofits access Consultant Connection?

Nonprofit organizations can access the listed consultants directly through our website. We never charge a fee for nonprofit organizations to use Consultant Connection.

Does TechSoup match consultants with nonprofits?

TechSoup does not match or recommend particular consultants at this time. All inquiries will be initiated by nonprofit organizations. We will contact you when we get a request to connect from a nonprofit. You have no obligation to work with interested nonprofits, but we do require that you respond to their inquiry within two business days.

What is the cost for consultants?

The listing fee is $395 annually.

How do I pay for my listing?

After your application is approved and your listing is visible, we will contact you with instructions on how to pay with a credit card.

How many leads will we get?

As we recently relaunched consultant connection, we can't predict exact numbers of how many leads you will get. Your listing is visible to our community of 900,000 nonprofits that access our website.

How do I update the information on my listing?

To make changes to your profile, please email us at consultantconnection@techsoup.org. Currently, you are not able to update the listing yourself.
